TRENDS AND PATTERNS OF REENGINEERING BUSINESS PROCESSES OF POSTAL AND COURIER SERVICES USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ROBOTICS

Trends in reengineering business processes of postal and courier services using artificial intelligence and robotization are considered. A classification of business processes that are being restructured in connection with robotization and the implementation of AI is proposed. The classification is hierarchical in nature and allows for grouping processes into main categories. Key strategic initiatives for robotization and the implementation of AI are proposed, the implementation of which necessitates the restructuring of business processes. Each type of strategic initiative (robotization and the implementation of AI) is divided into three horizons and the relationship of these initiatives with business processes is shown. Key positive expected effects from the implementation of the proposed initiatives are diagnosed. To assess the priority of the proposed strategic initiatives, matrix models have been developed that graphically allow for the visualization of assessments of strategic alternatives in two-dimensional space (implementation deadlines and ROI growth potential).

The results of constructing the matrix for evaluating strategic robotics initiatives showed a clear clustering of initiatives by horizon. Thus, all 5 strategic initiatives of Horizon 1 fell into the “Quick Wins” square, which can be considered a certain analogue of the “Star” square of the BCG matrix and is characterized by maximum expected ROI values and fast pace of implementation of the relevant initiatives. Two strategic initiatives of Horizon 2 fell into the Resource-intensive development square, which is characterized by fast pace of implementation of strategic initiatives, but relatively low expected ROI values. The last two strategic initiatives of Horizon 3 fell into the “Immature Technologies” square, which can be considered a certain analogue of the “Dogs” square of the BCG matrix. For strategic initiatives for the implementation of AI, the clustering was not so clear. Namely, the strategic initiatives of the first two horizons were distributed between the squares "Quick Wins" and "Low Priority", and the third horizon - between the squares "Strategic Bets" and "Questionable/Long-term".
